Best place for sport fishing in Uganda
Murchison Falls National Park
The mighty River Nile crosses through Murchison Falls National Park and in its waters is the renowned Nile Perch. This park is located 340 kilometers away from the Kampala city. Presently the Murchison Falls National Park is the best place to do sport fishing. here, this activity can be carried out throughout the year however the best time for sports fishing is from January up to March and then from July up to October. The section of the river Nile flowing through the park is also home to Tilapia, catfish, Tiger fish (Awaka), barbell, Tilapia, ferocious fighter, Angara and yellow fish among other species. Fishing is usually done by boat around the banks of the river although anglers can walk to the base of waterfalls to throw their lines.
Lake Victoria. As Africa’s largest lake, Lake Victoria offers a wealth of fishing opportunities, including the chance to catch Nile perch, tilapia, catfish, and more. What to pack
Tourists are advised to carry all necessary supplies such as medications, Sun protection like hats, sunglasses, creams as it can be very hot, spare batteries for electronic equipment and cameras and mosquito spray must be brought with you. Hiking/safari boots are best for foot wear, especially for shore fishing from the steep, rough rocks. Lightweight and light coloured clothes for fishing are best as they are cooler and the tsetse flies are less attracted to them. Long sleeves and long trousers are best, but avoid blue/black dark colours where ever possible as these colours actually attract the tsetses! A light weight rain jacket and a sweater for the evenings is also recommended.
